Miss G, First Grader!

I handled this first day of school better than last year.

I think it's because the teachers are no longer strangers to me, but colleagues and, most importantly, ridiculously awesome people.

And, I haven't JUST moved across the country.

Nor am I teaching middle school for the first time.

Nor am I returning to full time work for the first time since the girls were born.

Man, it's a miracle I survived last year at all!
Today was Miss G's first day of Grade ONE!!

She began school with all of the Big Kids.

Miss A is in Kindergarten, so she has a staggered entry.

Right now, as a Kindergarten teacher, I am meeting with all the parents for the first time, then the kids come to class for half days in smaller groups.

Next Wednesday is Miss A's first full day of school.
Miss G chose to have Little Cookie and Papa's Patch, as her doggie accompanists.

She said that Kid Doggie was feeling a little sick and would like to spend the day in bed.
A big perk to being in Grade 1 for Miss G is her brand new locker!

I bought her some cool locker gear to jazz it up, and she LOVES her locker, and keeps it ultra organized.
Pictured in the locker:  at the bottom, a pink shoe mat, so her winter boots can dry, on the hooks, her hoodie and backpack, above, Little Cookie and Patch the dogs in their "dog house" (where they stayed all day to guard her stuff), and above that is a locker shelf for her lunch box.  On the door are some magnets, her mirror, and a magnet cup for holding special treasures.

She LOVES HER LOCKER.  It's the best part of Grade 1.
Oh!  Wait!  There are TWO best parts.

Her teacher, Mrs. JC (how's that for a Catholic school teacher's initials, eh?), is fantastic.
Miss G's Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. F is Miss A's teacher this year, and I caught her peeking in at her old class a few times today.

We've been so very lucky with caring, nurturing educators for the girls!

You forgot to erase her name on the backpack.

Grade 1 kids get lockers??!! Levi's would have been the COMPLETE OPPOSITE. Upside down, dirty and messy. And he would have known where everything was...LOL.

We don't hit the classroom until next Thursday. Good thing because I am nowhere near being ready...for anything ;)

Hugs and kisses from Auntie Kelli!!
