Quackers

Today is officially the anniversary of the day we left Halifax.

It rained.  Melissa and I cried.  We had a party in Miramichi.

Just thought you should know, so you can appreciate the beauty of time passing, and the fact that my bloggeversary is coming up!

And, now, a series of posts about our weekend...

On Saturday, we went to the Rubber Ducky Race at Yellowknife River with Lena and her boys.
The girls went straight for the face painting, of course.

Miss G requested a rainbow unicorn, and the face painter was a little nervous, but she just followed Miss G's directions.
Miss A asked to be Apple Jacks from My Little Ponies, so she could kick apple trees and knock down the apples...  you know, because apple trees are so plentiful here in Yellowknife.
Ta da! Rainbow Unicorn.
Ta da!  Apple Jacks.
Then, we walked on the bridge to get ready for the rubber ducky race.  It was a fundraiser for Jump Start, a charity that raises money for kids who need some monetary funds to participate in organized sports.

As you can see, our Ducky came with us, and is looking backwards to the other side of the bridge where a boat is about to dump the 1200+ rubber duckies into the river.
This is the winner.  This lucky ducky won by a long shot!
Clearly, the winning duck wanted to take a little victory paddle, because he escaped!
Before long, the ducks charged the finish line!

Escape!  Au secours!  Float like you've never floated before!!
It was great fun to watch from the bridge.
The boat and kayaks worked together to herd the ducks together, but they gave them a challenge, and it was pretty funny to see.
Lena stayed up on the bridge with us, and her boys ran all over for different views.

Seriously.

I couldn't believe that I didn't manage to get them together for a picture...  Lena and I laughed about that.
The girls thought it was a pretty fun race, and I think that Papa liked it, too.
We know that Ducky did!
