A Sniff and a Prayer

This is my Uncle Stafford.
He's not afraid to get his hands dirty.

He has a long list of accomplishments.
He's a hunter.  Damn fine one.  Sniff.
He's a fisher.  Damn fine one.  Sniff.
He taught my brother, Brad, how to chew gum.  It took a few packs, but Staff was not going to let him grow up unable to chew gum (he kept swallowing it!).  Sniff.
He is known to walk into doors marked "Staff Only" and say, "What? My name was on the door!"  Sniff.
He always wins.
Seriously.
Darts?  He wins.  Sniff.
Horseshoes?  He wins.  Sniff.
Washer toss?  He wins.  Sniff.
Checkers?  He wins.  Sniff.
He'd never DREAM of throwing a game just to let someone else win.
He tried a bow and arrow a few months ago.
Bullseye on the first shot.  Sniff.

Pride = Sniff

His three daughters are my cousins, and I love them very much.
He and my Aunt Sam are my godparents, too.
This picture was taken exactly one year ago this month.
I was still living in Halifax
(in fact, we put our house up for sale about the time this picture was taken).
Monique and I saw each other a lot.

It would be really great to be there now, because I would have kept her company on her drive to Saint John, NB, today.

Uncle Staff is having surgery tomorrow morning (Wednesday) to remove a tumor from his brain.

Stupid tumor.

The surgery will be 10-14 hours long.

So, say a prayer will ya?

We're praying that the surgeon is efficient and decisive.
We're praying that his family has strength and serenity.
We're praying that the friggin' tumor is just resting on the vein, so it can be completely removed, and Uncle Staff can be Staff...
And, we're praying that Staff comes out of this sniffin'.

Recently, he told Aunt Sam that he wasn't worried because it was "just brain surgery."

His positive attitude alone should zap that tumor right out of his brain!

Learn a little from his relaxed positive attitude, and send up some extra prayers for him, will ya?
