The girls had their last day of school on Tuesday.
In the above picture, taken in the morning, Miss A is happy to be going to school for the LAST DAY of preschool, and Miss G is making a face because I asked her to hold her sissy's hand.
She was also suitably pleased to be a Kinder graduate. On the inside.
So, next year, Miss A will be in Kindergarten, Miss G will be in Grade 1, and Mommy will be teaching (French Immersion) KINDERGARTEN! Yay!
A few short hours after this photo was taken, I found Miss A in the office with her preschool teacher, draped over the couch, hot as a potato, and needing a hug.
I gave her a hug, and she power puked over my shoulder.
I skillfully leaned her into the secretary's garbage can, and I didn't even get a drop on my hair or shirt.
That's the real reason I get to go back to Kindergarten. My skills of puke control!
Poor little peanut... I can't believe she got sick on her last day of preschool.
Wrapping up school, Miss G had a super fun afternoon at a neighbourhood park with fellow Knidergarten classes, including parachute fun, snacks and a picnic.
Miss A (in the pink) lent a helping hand to pick winners are our end of the year school assembly celebrating positive behaviour year-round.
And, on the looooongest day of the year (June 21, in case you are scratching your head), we had the school day off for Aboriginal Day.
The day before, at school, we had a Feed the Fire ceremony with some aboriginal leaders and our school drummers to commemorate the day.
I had big plans for Aboriginal Day, but was struck down with the worse sinus infection I've ever had.
Sinusitis is not that much fun... I'm still battling it, and the headache?! Man alive!
Summer illnesses should be illegal.
Miss G has been enjoying Daddy's boat and fishing.
In fact, she is on the boat right now fishing.
She doesn't eat the fish (Miss A sure does!), but she loves to spend time with Daddy on the blue boat with a fishing rod.
We've been catching and releasing lots of butterflies.
Miss G catches them in her hands, then we watch them for about five or ten minutes before releasing them and thanking them for visiting.
Speaking of visitors...
Look who has found his way onto Eli's boat, and has discovered that he LOVES to fish??
(That's Papa and his first lake trout.)
And, look who I found to take to the sandy Yellowknife beach, which she loved, though she was skeptical of a great beach waaay up North.
(That's Nanny standing in a lake that was covered by ice only a few weeks ago.)
Nanny and Papa arrived on the last day of school, which really cheered up Miss A (who, you will remember, was sick), and Miss G was so happy to have them walk to school to pick her up!
Yes, summer is here.
We have even made it to the beach...
It's hard NOT to go to the beach with our crazy long days, with no true darkness to speak of... I mean, why not hit the beach at 5 pm if the sun is high in the sky?
Getting burried at the beach is a lot more fun than getting burried in snow.
These girls have been looking forward to the beach since last October!
Nanny was really impressed with the white sandy beach.
And, the shallow lake water was warm!
Miss A challenged Nanny to a beach volleyball game.
She was pretty serious about it.
Ah, yes. Summer.
We love you, summer.
